On
Thursday, July 21st, the Looking for Lincoln Heritage
Coalition offered a screening of its newest short film,
"1875 Emancipation Proclamation: A Grand Old-Style
Barbeque in Atlanta, Illinois." The event open to the
public was held at the Atlanta Museum Union Hall.
The film features a little-known story in Atlanta
history illustrating the number of African American
citizens who had settled in Atlanta and celebrated the
emancipation anniversary with a barbecue and dance.
