The Railsplitters were the home team in the regional and scored
three times in the bottom of the first inning. Jaden Leadley’s
single with the bases loaded drove in the first two runs for
Lincoln. Michael Lucas added an RBI single to make the score
3-0.
In the top of the third inning, East Peoria scored two runs.
The Raiders tied the game 3-3 in the top of the fourth inning.
With the game tied 3-3 in the fourth inning on Wednesday the
game was postponed due to weather and would not be resumed until
Friday night.
On Friday night, Andrew Graue’s RBI single in the bottom of the
fourth inning allowed the Railsplitters to go in front 4-3.
After Sean Raffa scored on a passed ball, Alex Hoffert added an
RBI single to center and the Railsplitters were on top 6-3.
The Railsplitters added three more runs in the bottom of the
fifth inning. With the first two runners reaching base on
errors, Trent Koehler’s sacrifice bunt moved the runners into
scoring position for Colbie Glenn. Glenn smacked a grounder that
got through to center and scored both Lucas and Drew Hayes.
Glenn would score later on a wild pitch and the Railsplitters
held a 9-3 lead.
East Peoria tied the game 9-9 in the top of the sixth inning.
Five hits in the inning guided the Raiders offense.
The score was still knotted at nine in the bottom of the seventh
inning, forcing the game into extra innings.
In the top of the eighth inning, the Raiders loaded the bases on
an error, a walk and a single. The next batter walked, giving
the Raiders the 10-9 lead. The next two batters were retired,
ending any further threat and giving the Railsplitters one more
chance.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Railsplitters were
retired in order and suffered the season-ending loss by a final
score of 10-9.
Trent Koehler took the loss for Lincoln. He went two and
one-third innings, allowing one run on two hits. Koehler struck
out three batters and walked two.
Wyatt Mammen started the game for Lincoln. He lasted four
innings, allowing three runs on three hits. He struck out three
batters and walked one.
Andrew Graue pitched an inning and two-thirds in middle relief.
He allowed six runs on four hits and struck out one batter and
walked one. Only one of the runs was earned.
The Railsplitters offense had nine hits versus East Peoria.
Colbie Glenn was 2-for-5 from the leadoff spot. He had two RBIs
and one run scored.
Andrew Graue was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Alex Hoffert was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Michael Lucas, Jaden Leadley and Sean Raffa each had one hit for
the Railsplitters.
The Railsplitters end the 2022 season with a 15-14 record.
