Farm & Home Supply Grand Opening weekend kicks off with a ribbon cut

[June 01, 2022]  Thursday morning a four-day Grand Opening of the new Farm and Home Supply in Lincoln kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Behind the ribbon were many of the staff from the new store along with company representatives and the President/owner of the Farm and Home Corporation, Adam Bowles. The company began in 1960 in Quincy and Bowles is a third generation family member to be the president of the company.

Along with President Bowles, corporate staff at the ribbon cutting included Chief Operating Officer Mike Pauling, Region Director Joe Coulter and Marketing Manager Jeff LaCroix. Local staff gathered behind the ribbon and included the Lincoln Store Assistant Manager Bob Rankin. Store Manager Rick Wilson was not present for the cut.



Representing the city of Lincoln were Alderwomen Kathy Horn and Wanda Lee Rohlfs, City Clerk Peggy Bateman, and the city’s Administrative Assistant Ashley Metelko. Logan County Clerk Theresa Moore, County Treasurer Penny Thomas, and Circuit Clerk Kelly Elias were on hand along with Logan County Royalty Queen Caroline Ahrends, Junior Miss Alayna Briggs, Little Miss Sophia Farmer, and L.E.A.D. Director Andrea Runge. The ribbon was held by Logan County Tourism Bureau Assistant Lexie Groves and Karen Hargis of Lincoln Daily News.







The event was emceed by Nila Smith who opened by thanking everyone who had turned out for the event and thanking Farm and Home for their investment in Lincoln.



Farm and Home Chief Operating Officer Mike Pauling was called on to speak for the company. He came around the ribbon to face all those gathered together. He said, “We are so excited and so happy to be here in Lincoln, couldn’t be happier to be in this community, and we feel we have services that most of Lincoln will enjoy. So, thank you for having us.”



 

George Horn (Pictured center) was put at the front of the line behind the ribbon and was recognized as a long-time employee who worked for Big R as well as now Farm and Home Supply. George shared that he has worked for the two businesses combined for 15 years.

Wanda Lee Rohlfs was called on to speak on behalf of the city in the absence of Mayor Tracy Welch. She said that she was so excited to have the new Farm and Home Supply come to Lincoln.

She noted that the store is being talked about around the community and that she has spoken to people on the street in Lincoln who have commented on the store. She added that she has been in the store as a shopper as well and really appreciates what the store brings to Lincoln.

Speaking about folks she has talked to she said, “They are so excited, they love the store, and we are so thankful to have you here in Lincoln and we wish you very good luck.”



The crowd helped with the countdown and Bob Rankin snipped the ribbon on cue.

Everyone was reminded that the store is hosting a four-day grand opening weekend with lots of special activities and special deals on merchandise. All were encouraged not to leave without doing a little bit of shopping.

Farm and Home Supply Marketing Manager Jeff LaCroix provided additional history of the business and the products offered as well as community involvement efforts.

The new store is located at 1501 Woodlawn Road in the old Walmart store and more recently Big R. Store hours are Monday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
