Lincoln Community Theatre is proud to present the farcical black
comedy “Arsenic and Old Lace” June 23-26 on the Lincoln Community
High School stage.
The play, written by Joseph Kesselring in 1939, stands the test of
nearly 100 years of comedy greatness revolving around the Brewster
family, mainly composed of homicidal maniacs.
Thankfully, Mortimer Brewster, our hero, played by Doug Drake, is
not homicidal, but has to deal with his family and the NYPD as he
worries about going through with marrying the woman he loves and
next-door-neighbor Elaine, played by Melissa Cremeens.
His family includes two spinster aunts, played by Nancy Nickerson
and Carol Woodrum, who have taken to murdering lonely old men by
poisoning them with a glass of homemade elderberry wine laced with
arsenic and a few other choice ingredients.
This surprisingly delightful show is directed by an amazing tag-team
of talent in Lincoln’s own Brandon Davis, Tim Searby, and Carolyn
Schreiber.
Davis also acts in the production in the role of Teddy Brewster, who
believes he is Teddy Roosevelt.
Rounding out the hilarious cast are Steven Stowers, Andy Brant, Mike
Koke, Tegan Follis, Timber Ziegler, Ann Brookens, Brian Bolton,
Jamie Voyles, and Keith Snyder.
