							Obituary

							Marilyn Klockenga, 86, of Lincoln,
passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Timbercreek
							Village in Lincoln.
Marilyn Joyce (Hutchcraft) Klockenga was born
January 12, 1936, the first of three daughters born
to Everett and Ruby (Whitchurch) Hutchcraft. Raised
on a farm in rural Logan County, Marilyn was the big
sister to E. Kay Hutchcraft, and Sandra (Jack) Berg.
These family members have preceded Marilyn in death.

Marilyn wed Donald D. Klockenga, on June 20, 1954.
They are parents to Kenton (Kate Harris) Klockenga,
Karen (Nick) Burgrabe, and Keith (Dana) Klockenga.
Nearly seventeen years ago, Marilyn became a
grandmother to Ian Klockenga, which brought her so
much joy. Bonus grandchildren are Erin, Jenna, Dax,
and Danielle Burgrabe. Marilyn was also grandma to
Shannon and Travis Jackson. Marilyn was a
							great-grandmother to a dozen blessings.

While a senior at Lincoln Community High School,
Marilyn had a bookkeeping job at the dime store. Not
long after graduating, Donald and Marilyn were
married. The Klockenga’s began farming in Eminence
Township north of Lincoln. In addition to farm life
and raising the children, Marilyn was a volunteer
for the Red Cross, visiting families in need of
assistance. Once her youngest was in school, Marilyn
took a job where she could once again work with
numbers. Marilyn spent five decades in the insurance
field working with farmers. First with Production
Credit Association, then Farm Credit Services from
which she retired in 2004. It wasn’t long before she
became restless and found herself back in an office.
On April 5, Marilyn again retired, most recently
							from Lincoln Logan May Insurance.

Marilyn was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church in Lincoln. Her faith and dedication to the
church and Zion Lutheran School were of the highest
priority for more than half a century. Marilyn
enjoyed attending various sporting events her
children and grandchildren participated in. Many
weekends were spent traveling the Midwest with
friends and families, eating at local diners and
shopping at antique stores and flea markets. Marilyn
and Donald enjoyed traveling with the DeWitt County
Farm Bureau a number of years touring farms in
Hawaii, California, Florida, Tennessee, and several
other states. A trip to Germany and Belgium in 1997,
where they traced ancestors, was their most distant
							adventure.
Services for Marilyn will be held at 10:00 a.m. on
Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in
Lincoln, with a visitation held one hour prior to
the service (9:00-10:00 a.m.). An evening visitation
will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June
10, 2022 also at the church. Burial will follow the
services at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made
in Marilyn’s name to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion
							Lutheran School.
