[June 12, 2022]   If you love being outdoors and hands-on learning, you will love the 4-H Shooting Sports program! Under the guidance of a Certified 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator and trained adult volunteers, participants can learn one or all the disciplines offered through 4-H: archery, shotgun, rifle, .22 pistol, and hunting and outdoor skills.

What makes our program different? 4-H Shooting Sports clubs are founded on the principles of Positive Youth Development. Our primary goal is to support the youth in the program – to ensure they feel welcome, they grow in leadership independence, and they are inspired to be generous in service to others, as they master skills in the Shooting Sports project. The focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth both as individuals and as responsible, productive citizens. Through the 4-H Shooting Sports program, youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of shooting and archery, and much more. The program activities and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.

The Logan County 4-H Shooting Sports club will meet on Saturday, June 18, July 16, August 27, and September 10, 9 AM to 11 AM. The disciplines of archery, rifle, and hunting and outdoor skills are open to 8- to 18-year-old participants. Shotgun and .22 pistol are taught to 10- to 18-year-old participants.

Because safety is a priority, the 4-H Shooting Sports project is only available to 4-H members enrolled in an organized 4-H Shooting Sports Club and cannot be taken as an individual project.
