“Life is different after a cancer diagnosis,” said Naomi Wands, community cancer
education coordinator at Memorial Health. “Next steps for cancer survivors and
their caregivers can sometimes be challenging – physically, emotionally and
mentally.”

In 2019, approximately 17 million Americans were cancer survivors, and the
number of cancer survivors living in the United States increases with each
passing year, according to the American Cancer Society. More early-detection
practices and screenings as well as advances in treatment are two factors that
have contributed to increased cancer survival rates.
