[June 14, 2022] Cara McClellan, daughter of Richard & Lindsey McClellan, has been selected from Lincolnland Technical Education Center (LTEC) to receive the “Ready for the Real World” Scholarship sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lincoln.

Cara, a senior from Lincoln Community High School, completed the LTEC Health Occupations Program where she was able to obtain medical skills training and passed the State of Illinois’s Licensure Exam for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) while earning college credit through Heartland Community College. According to her teacher, Mrs. Christina Fink, Cara was not afraid to take on any challenge and always gave 100% effort. Cara also completed the LTEC Workplace Experience Program, under the instruction of Mr. Donald Bowman, where students are allowed to learn in a cohort about consumer education and receive credit for working at a local employer while in high school.

Cara has demonstrated she is not afraid of hard work or taking on new challenges. Cara has worked for various employers since she was 13 and currently works as a CNA at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care in Lincoln. Cara also works as a volunteer at the local YMCA as a soccer coach and assists with Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Vacation Bible School each year.
