Third annual Juneteenth Celebration
comes to Lincoln this weekend

The third annual Juneteenth celebration in
Lincoln will kick off on Saturday, June 18th, and conclude on
Sunday, June 19th.

The Juneteenth Festival begins with the B.A.P.P.’s
Pageant on Saturday, starting at noon at Lincoln Elks Golf Club and
Lodge.
On Sunday, an evening-long event will start with a Juneteenth
walking parade from Scully Park downtown in Lincoln out to the Logan
County Fairgrounds. The walk will begin at 2:15 p.m.
The parade route will be Scully Park on McLean Street to Broadway
Street. Turn left onto Broadway to Logan Street, turn left, and
proceed to Fifth Street. Take Fifth Street to Postville Drive, turn
right, and proceed to the fairground entrance.
There will be plenty of activities, bounce houses,
family fun, and giveaways for dads. Local resources such as health
and fitness plans and speakers from around the community will be
present.

Juneteenth received national recognition on June 17th, 2021, when
President Joe Biden made it a federal holiday.
The community is invited to attend this free event commemorating the absolution
of slavery on June 18th, 1865.
