[June 23, 2022]  LINCOLN - William Darwin Westen, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Service: Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Union Cemetery in Lincoln

William Darwin Westen, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside services for Darwin will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Union Cemetery in Lincoln with Mr. Bobby Orr officiating.

Cremation Rites have been accorded.

William Darwin Westen was born on July 23, 1938 in Lincoln the son of Edward Wayne and Ila Cooper Westen.

He was united in marriage to Joan Marie Heft on June 19, 1960. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Lisa (Mike) Egizii, Jodi (Doug) Ritterbush all of Lincoln. Two grandchildren: Ali (Anthony) Mikels, Emma Ritterbush. One great grandson: Luca Mikels. Two sisters: Maurine (James) Orr of Springfield, Marlene Wilson of Brentwood, TN and sister-in-law Cynthia (Marvin) Wilhite of Monroe, La.. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Funeral Director

Darwin graduated from the Beason High School in 1956. Upon graduation, he farmed with his father near Beason and formed Westen Trucking where he hauled livestock and grain for many area farmers. He later joined his father in operating Westen Implement, a Massey Ferguson Dealership in Beason. After the sale of the business he continued to operate Westen Trucking, hauling grain for many years.

He was a former member of the Methodist Church of Beason and First United Methodist Church of Lincoln.

He was a member of the Beason Sportsman’s Club.

Memorials may be made to the Beason Fire Department or the Beason Sportsman’s Club.
