[March 01, 2022]  LINCOLN - Lillian B. Hoerdemann-Twiss, 91, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 12:21 p.m. at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal surrounded by her family.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church

Rosary:  9:30 a.m. prior to the visitation at the church.

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church

Funeral home: Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln     

Obituary

Lillian B. Hoerdemann-Twiss, 91, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 12:21 p.m. at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church on Wednesday.

A Rosary Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the visitation at the church.

Lillian Beatrice Rakewich was born the only child of Anton and Mary Armon Rakewich on September 15, 1930 in LaSalle, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Ewald G. Hoerdemann on June 20, 1959 . He preceded her in death on November 25, 1985. She later married Francis Twiss Jr. in 1989. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2008.

Surviving Lillian are her five children: Michelle, Hans, Eric (Kristi), Paul (Jane), and Carolyn. Five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She graduated from LaSalle – Peru High School in 1948.

Lillian co -owned several business’ with Ewald in Lincoln. She also worked in the Activity Department at St. Clara’s Manor for 16 years

Funeral Director

As a member of Holy Family Catholic Church she served as a Eucharistic Minister, organized and led Rosary Walk and volunteered at the Holy Family Food Pantry. She also led the Rosary Services at several nursing homes. She loved spending summers in Chicago exploring music, museums and theatre. She was elated to visit Italy and have an audience with Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis.

She was a member of the KC Ladies Auxiliary and CCD Religious Ed teacher and Before Care Child Care worker at Carroll Catholic School.

She enjoyed visiting Florida, Texas, and a drive to the east coast with Frank. She loved walking on the beach and anywhere near water.

She was loved by many and one student wrote to her on her 90th birthday, “ I know I shouldn’t say this but Mrs. Twiss deserves her free ticket to paradise.”

Lillian loved to walk, she always found something beautiful to point out, no mater the place or the weather. She made many daily walks around the pond at the Lincoln Hospital near her home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made for a bench at the pond or donated to the Holy Family Food Pantry.
