"After three long weeks of golf, I feel that taking this week to
rest and prepare for the busy stretch ahead is best," Burns said
Monday. "I appreciate the support and look forward to seeing
everyone soon."
The $12 million WGC-Dell Technologies begins Thursday at Austin
Country Club. Replacing Burns in the field is Maverick McNealy,
with Bernd Wiesberger moving to first alternate.
Burns, 25, has had a busy start to 2022, playing in seven
tournaments. His best finish before winning the Valspar was a
tie for ninth earlier this month at the Arnold Palmer
Invitational.
He moved from No. 17 to No. 10 in the Official World Golf
Ranking on Monday.
