Railsplitters fall to Monticello 8-2

[March 30, 2022]  The Railsplitters held a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning over Monticello on Monday afternoon but with the Sages rallying to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning and then adding five more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Sages take the 8-2 win over Lincoln. 

Alex Hoffert drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to force in the Railsplitters first run of the game. 

 

Sean Raffa added an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning to give Lincoln the 2-1 lead.

 

The Sages jumped ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

 

Monticello would score five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with the help of six hits and two walks. 

 

Lincoln managed one base runner in the top of the seventh inning and with the remaining batters retired, the Sages came out on top 8-2.

 

Lincoln had eight hits in the game.

 

Sean Raffa and Trey Schilling each had two hits.

Daulton Miller, Trent Koehler, Colbie Glenn and Jaden Klopp each had one hit.

 

Trent Koehler started on the mound for the Railsplitters. Koehler worked three innings and allowed three hits and one run. He struck out seven batters.

 

Wyatt Mammen pitched the middle two innings for Lincoln and he took the loss for Lincoln. Mammen (1-2)  gave up two runs while striking out five batters.

 

 

Sean Raffa pitched the sixth inning, allowing five runs on six hits.

 

The Railsplitters fall to 1-2 on the season.

 

Lincoln will play at Downs Tri-Valley today. The game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
