Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Josephine Verderber,
94, of Lincoln, died at 6:04 a.m. on Friday, March
25, 2022, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2022, from 5:00
p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Lincoln
with a Rosary prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. at
Holy Family Church on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, with
Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating. Burial will
follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln.
Betty was born February 23, 1928, in Lincoln, the
daughter of Esther and James Burns. She married Paul
Verderber on November 27, 1947, at St. Patrick’s
Church in Lincoln.
Betty is survived by her children: Bob (Diane
Meyrick) Verderber, John (Theresa) Verderber, Nancy
(Jim) Martin, Chuck (Lynda) Verderber, Katie (Jeff)
Stollhans, and Barb (Kent) Bowlby; grandchildren:
Michael, Jackie (Cody), Michelle (Howie), Derek,
Erik (Danielle), Laura, Alyse, Kyle (Emily), Andrew,
Reuben, Anna, Liesl, Edward, Louisa, Jens, John,
Tony, Travis (Emily), and Tera (Tom); and
great-grandchildren: Carson, Carter, Lilia, Ava,
Jayden, Cecilia, Ella, Leo, and Crosby.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband, Paul; her daughter, Theresa;
and her siblings: James, Mary, and Bob. |
Betty devoted her life to her husband
and family. She enjoyed attending all of her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s
events and activities. Betty had a way of making
everyone feel special and important. She never knew
a stranger. Betty was always up for an adventure
whether it be a vacation, tour of observation, or
road trip. She especially loved spending time in
Florida. She was a member of the Oasis Senior
Center. She enjoyed playing pinochle with her
friends and family. Betty also loved spending time
under the shade of her pear tree and admiring the
flowers. She loved to be surrounded by friends and
family and gather in Betty’s Kitchen around the
table especially during the holidays.
Betty was a lifetime advocate for people with
disabilities. She was proud of the work she did
making the Lincoln community accessible.
Betty was a lifetime member of Holy Family Catholic
Church in Lincoln.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
Oasis Senior Center and Carroll Catholic School.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley
Funeral Home of Lincoln.
