[May 04, 2022]  LINCOLN - Joan M Lewis, 77, of Lincoln passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln

Rosary Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m.

Service: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln

Obituary

Joan M. Lewis, 77, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln. Rev. Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. A Rosary Prayer Service will begin at 4:30 p.m. prior to the visitation.

Joan Maxine Kirk Lewis was born September 30, 1944, in Lincoln, the sixth of seven children born to Henry and Evelyn Young Kirk. Aside from two years in Saginaw, Michigan, Joan lived her whole life in Lincoln. On May 4, 1963, Joan married the love of her life, Todd Lewis. They were married for 49 years, until Todd’s passing in 2012.

She is survived by her son, Matthew (Carol) Lewis; grandson, Justin (Kelsey Gottschall) Lewis; great-grandchild, Devlyn Gottschall-Lewis; three step-great-grandchildren: David, Jaydice, and Mackenzie Gottschall; her brother, Howard (Barb) Kirk; many loving nieces and nephews and their families; and special friend, Jason Platte.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, five of her brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband.

Joan worked at her father-in-law’s shop, The Perk Up, for several years, before embarking on a forty-year career as a beautician, running her own business, The Primp Up. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed seeing her grandson, Justin Lewis, become a father himself.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Food Bank, Carroll Catholic School, or the American Cancer Society.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home.
