Thursday, May 5th, was the 71st annual National Day
of Prayer. In Lincoln several people met in the rotunda of the Logan
County Courthouse at noon to pray for our country, our national,
statewide and local leaders, as well as other topics of concern.
This year's theme was "Who has established us," with scripture text
from Colossians 2:6-7.
The rain outside did not dampen the zeal and passion of those inside
the courthouse. The sound of prayers rising from the rotunda was
moving and a sacred dedication to a Holy God.
Ken Benham from Jefferson Street Church led in the welcome and gave
instructions as to how the program would work. Several pastors led
in prayer for different things.
The Christian Village Chaplain and pastor from Broadwell Christian
Church, Ryan Edgecomb asked all to join him in reading the National
Prayer for the day.
Tony Shuff of Living Water Church in Springfield led in prayer for
the government and military.
From Jefferson Street Christian Church, Michael Mallick prayed for
the media and popular culture.
From Open Arms Christian Fellowship, Larry Crawford led prayers for
business and the economy.
Ron Otto from Lincoln Christian Church prayed for schools and
education.
