The three bedroom home is located at 201 Ninth Street
in Lincoln, built on the site of an abandoned home that was
destroyed by arson fire in 2020. The lot had been claimed by the
city of Lincoln after the fire and was later traded with another
property belonging to the LTEC program for the new construction
project just completed.
The house sits on a large lot and features three bedrooms including
a master with master bath, second bathroom, large laundry room, mud
room, two car garage and an open floor plan kitchen, dining, living
area.
The house also features hardwood flooring, a large front porch and
smaller side porch that enters into the mudroom area.
LTEC is currently accepting bids on the home with the minimum bid
being $185,000.
Building and Trades instructor John Ford was on hand Thursday
evening along with LTEC Director Matt Puckett. Students in the
Building Trades class were also there in shifts.
Ford said that the construction of the home is almost complete. All
the big stuff is done, but there is yet to be installed the
countertops in the kitchen and the laundry room. He said the
countertops were to be granite and should arrive soon.

There is still outside work to do as well including cleaning up
the landscape, putting in a drainage ditch and laying down the sidewalk.
Ford said that he is hopeful that the house will bring more than
its minimum bid, and really believes that it will. He noted that homes are in
demand right now, and with the ever increasing cost of construction, home values
are going up consistently. He said that within the asking price, bidders should
realize they are not paying for labor on the LTEC homes, therefore, the
beginning bid is lower than what it would be on the open market and built by a
contractor.
Ford said the students did a good job on the home this year. It is solidly built
and will make some family a fine new home in Lincoln.
The bidding process is underway now. Those wishing to place a sealed bid on the
home have until May 12th to do so. All bids will be opened at 9 a.m. on Friday,
May 13th.
