Lincoln scored first in the game, taking a 1-0 lead in the third
inning. Jaden Leadley slugged a lead-off double and he came
around to score after Jake Baker bunted and the Beardstown
catcher made an error.
The Tigers scored four times in the top of the fourth inning and
then added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning,
taking a 7-1 lead over Lincoln.
Sean Raffa’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning scored
a run for Lincoln.
The Tigers got that run back in the top of the sixth inning.
The Railsplitters started a two-out rally in the bottom of the
seventh inning. Trey Schilling drew a walk and Raffa and Alex
Hoffert put together back-to-back singles to plate a run. After
Andrew Graue walked, Jaden Klopp hit a
single to center, scoring both Raffa and Hoffert. The
Tigers ended the game on a strikeout and the Railsplitters rally
came to an end as they lost by a final score of 8-5.
Sean Raffa took the loss for Lincoln. Raffa allowed four runs on
five hits. He struck out one batter in four innings of work.
Jaden Klopp pitched the final three innings, allowing four runs
on seven hits.
Lincoln had seven hits in the game.
Sean Raffa was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Colbie Glenn, Trey Schilling, Alex Hoffert, Jaden Klopp and
Jaden Leadley each had one hit.
The Railsplitters record falls to 12-9 on the season.
Lincoln will host Decatur MacArthur on Friday at Mike Curry
Field. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
