The award is given to faculty and staff members who embody the
NSLS mission and exemplify a commitment to excellence in developing student
leaders.
It was a bittersweet moment as this will be the last induction ceremony to take
place at Lincoln College. The LC chapter was established in 2018 and has
inducted over 340 students. Students are selected for membership based on either
their academic standing or leadership potential. In order to be inducted as a
full member, students must complete a life-changing leadership program that
helps students achieve personal growth, career success, and empowers them to
have a positive impact in their communities. The chapter’s success has not gone
unnoticed. In May 2021, The LC chapter was nationally recognized with a
Distinguished Chapter Award and their Chapter Advisor, Zach Landers was
recognized with the Stephen Covey Advisor of the Year Award. The completed a
number of community services and volunteer initiatives, including a professional
clothing drive to give students access to free professional clothing, making pet
toys for the Humane Society of Logan County, and most recently hosting a signing
event for 2x4’s for Hope, and a record breaking blood drive with Impact Life to
name a few.
With LC’s closing, current members will be transitioned into an online chapter
so they can continue to access their benefits. Members transferring to other
institutions will also have the option to transfer their membership if they have
an active NSLS chapter. The LC Chapter wants to thank the Lincoln community and
LC faculty, staff and administration for their continued support over the last
four years. Like the phoenix in our shield, we will rise from the ashes of
adversity and achieve success. We wish all our current and alumni members
continued success as they forge ahead.
