Warrensburg-Latham seniors Madison Lyon and Ema
Dutcher, were named recipients of the Warrensburg-Latham Lions
Club/John L. Rotz Memorial Scholarship in the high school’s annual
Awards Night, held May 9.

The scholarships are $1,500 each.
Madison Lyon, the daughter of Doug and Carla Lyon, graduated early
from W-L and is enrolled at Richland Community College (RCC), where
she is pursuing an associate’s degree in nursing. Her ultimate goal
is to be a flight nurse. When she’s not studying or attending
classes at RCC, she works as an Emergency Room technician at Decatur
Memorial Hospital, gaining first-hand experience with some of the
trauma situations that she may face as a flight nurse.

Ema Dutcher is planning to become a dentist, with her ultimate goal
of owning her own practice. Ideally, once her seven years of
education are completed, she would like to work for an established
dentist and then, once that dentist retires, take over the practice.
Ema has had scholarship offers from both Southern Illinois
University, Carbondale, and Clemson University. She is the daughter
of Thomas and Bridget Dutcher.
Presenting
the awards to both seniors is Terry Howe, W-L Lions Club president.
Congratulations to them and best wishes for continued success in
their future endeavors. All this year's candidates were exceptional,
and we wish them all a bright future.
