Railsplitters defeat Auburn 11-4

[May 14, 2022] The Lincoln Railsplitters were quick to pounce on the Auburn Trojans Thursday afternoon and pick up an 11-4 road win.

 

The Railsplitters offense was fired up early, getting three extra-base hits in the first inning. Colbie Glenn started the Railsplitters off on the right track with a single to third base. Daulton Miller followed in the no. 2 spot with a triple to left to score Glenn. Sean Raffa doubled to center to drive in Miller. Alex Hoffert added a double to left to score Raffa and the Railsplitters were on top 3-0.

 

The Railsplitters had four hits in the third inning and plated two more runs. After Miller and Raffa singled in the inning, Graue doubled. Miller had been caught stealing earlier, but after a two-run single by Jaden Leadley the Railsplitters lead was 5-0.

 

Moving to the top of the fourth inning, Miller and Raffa would add RBI singles to increase the lead to 7-0. 

 

Auburn plated four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make things interesting.

 

Glenn and Graue slugged doubles in the top of the sixth inning and with a walk to Raffa in the mix, the Railsplitters scored two more runs. Graue earned the RBIs and Lincoln was on top 9-4.

 

The top of the seventh inning started with a single to left by Leadley and then Jaden Klopp homered to left to make the score 11-4.

 

Trent Koehler shut down the Trojans on strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh inning.

 

Andrew Graue earned the win for Lincoln. Graue worked three and one-third innings, allowing four runs on five hits. Graue struck out one batter and walked one.

 

Trent Koehler got the save. He worked three and two-thirds innings, giving up four hits and zero runs. Koehler returned from the injured list to strike out nine batters and walk one. 

 

The Railsplitters bats were on fire versus Auburn, pounding out 14 hits.

 

Sean Raffa was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

 

Daulton Miller was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

 

Andrew Graue was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

 

Jaden Leadley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

 

Colbie Glenn was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.

 

Jaden Klopp and Alex Hoffert each had one hit.

 

The Railsplitters improved to 14-10 on the season.

 

Lincoln will play at Chatham Glenwood today at 4:30 p.m.
