Pleasant Plains wins slugfest 9-7 over Railsplitters

[May 16, 2022]    Lincoln hosted Pleasant Plains Wednesday afternoon and each team slugged ten hits but in the end it was the Cardinals winning the battle 9-7.

 

The Railsplitters tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Colbie Glenn. 

 

Lincoln would take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Glenn drove in two runs with a line drive to center. 

 

The Cardinals tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. 

 

Once again, Lincoln took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jaden Leadley’s RBI single gave the Railsplitters a 4-3 advantage. Drew Hayes singled to center to drive in two more runs. Leadley scored the final run of the inning on a passed ball and the Railsplitters were in front 7-3.

 

In the top of the sixth inning the Cardinals took an 8-7 lead.

 

Pleasant Plains added one more run in the top of the seventh inning.

 

The Railsplitters lost by a final score of 9-7.

 

Lincoln pounded out 10 hits.

 

Colbie Glenn was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Jaden Klopp was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jaden Leadley was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two walks and an RBI. 

 

Drew Hayes, Daulton Miller, Andrew Graue and Alex Hoffert each had a hit apiece to round out the offense.

 

Wyatt Mammen started the game for Lincoln. Mammen tossed five innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked three.

 

Sean Raffa pitched the final two innings and took the loss. Raffa allowed six hits and six runs. Only two of the runs were earned. He struck out one and walked one.

 

The Railsplitters record falls to 13-10.

 

Lincoln will play at Auburn today at 4:30 p.m.
