The City of Lincoln and the 3rd Friday committee
have planned another great event. Whether you are wanting to listen
to live music, eat delicious food, play games, shop, or make art,
there is something for everyone.
Harmony Grits will be performing on the corner of Pulaski and
Kickapoo to keep the energy fun and moving. Numerous vendors will be
set up along Kickapoo street to sell items, food, play games or
share information about their organization. For the adults, a bags
tournament returns in front of the Alley-Bi and the Railsplitter
Antique Auto Club will be on the corner of Mclean and Pulaski St.
The kids’ corner on Broadway Street will have plenty of fun
activities to keep everyone busy. The Lincoln Park District will be
providing games for kids and inflatables will be there as well. The
Heritage in Flight Museum will have its children’s flight simulator
available free of charge.
This month there will be henna tattoos, rock painting, sidewalk
chalk at the courthouse, and portraits by artist Brain Simpson.
Artisans will be located on McLean Street with original handmade
work for sale.

As for food, there are plenty of vendors selling items such as
popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, chips, ice cream and drinks. Crossway church
is providing free popsicles, and water. Sorrento’s will have pizza by the slice
and both Alley-Bi and Mama’s Arcade will be selling their famous cheeseburgers.
Top Hat will be open for dessert.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Welcome Garden for the grand
opening of the Scenic Flyway Butterfly Habitat. The Welcome Garden is located at
the corner of Kickapoo St and Pekin St and the ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
Third Fridays will be scheduled for June 17 and July 15, and of course, will be
subject to weather conditions.
The committee is excited to continue these events and hope that all will come
for an evening of fun, food, and live entertainment.
