Illinois Senator and Logan County native Sally
Turner hosted a pet adoption event at the Humane Society of Logan
County (HSLC) on Saturday, May 14th.

The event included snacks, face painting and
corn hole toss as well as an opportunity for guests to visit with
the numerous animals that are seeking forever family at the shelter.
In addition, Turner had hosted a cutest pet contest via her social
media page.
The winner of the contest was Karilyn Walsh who had submitted an
adorable shot of her baby in the bath with three of her little
Yorkies. All four characters in the tub were looking over the edge
of the tub at mom as she snapped the shot.
Inside the shelter, volunteers of the HSLC were busy sharing
information about the pets that are currently residing with them,
and encouraging folks to consider pet adoption.
One particular puppy was getting the attention of many folks, as he
had just returned from a visit to the veterinarian and was enjoying
the attention he was getting as a special guest in the HSLC office.
The pup is adorable and with a good bill of health will soon be
ready for adoption.

Outside, Turner volunteers were manning a table, encouraging
folks to sign up for the Turner newsletters. Also, those who brought donations
for the HSLC were offered an opportunity to enter a drawing for a door prize.
Cookies and bottled water were being handed out, with the cookies were shaped
like hearts and dog bones.
Visitors came by from the Logan County Sheriff and Lincoln Fire Departments
throughout the morning.
Turner is an animal lover and greatly respects the work of the Humane Society of
Logan County. She is hopeful that her visit on Saturday will encourage more
people to help out the HSLC. There is always a need for volunteers and for
donations of pet care and housekeeping products. And, of course, there are
always pets available looking for a family to love.
If you have an interest in helping the HSLC or adopting an animals visit the
website at https://www.hslclincoln.org/, telephone 217-737-4042, or visit the
shelter. Shelter hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday.
