On Monday, May 9, 2022 the softball program recognized three
seniors for their commitment to the sport.
Prior to the first pitch of the home game with Tri-Valley,
seniors Abbie Glenn, Ryen Stoltzenburg and Cassie Bridge were
recognized for their dedication to Lady Railers softball.
The ladies then took the field and defeated the Tri-Valley
Vikings 8-7.
Lincoln 8
Tri-Valley 7
Tri-Valley took a 3-0 lead over Lincoln in the top of the first
inning, but the Lady Railers battled back to score two runs in
the bottom half of the first inning.
By the time Tri-Valley finished their half of the fourth inning,
Lincoln found themselves down 7-2.
The Lady Railers showed resilience in the bottom of the fourth
inning and fought their way back to a tie ballgame. Cassie
Bridge drove in the first run with an RBI single to center.
Abbie Glenn’s RBI double drove in another run for Lincoln. Alex
Eads singled to the shortstop to plate another Lady Railers run.
Chloe Johnston added a fielder’s choice to drive in yet another
run. The Lady Railers tied the game 7-7 on a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Cara Farnam hit a double to
center and she would advance to third on a single by Taryn
Stoltzenburg. Lincoln would take an 8-7 lead on a bunt to the
pitcher by Bridge. Farnam scored the go-ahead run from third on
the play.
Farnam shut the Vikings down in the final two innings and the
Lady Railers pick up an exciting come from behind win on Senior
Night.
Farnam earned the win for Lincoln. She tossed the complete seven
inning game, allowing six hits and just one earned run. She
struck out four batters and walked one.
Lincoln had 10 hits in the game.
Farnam was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
Taryn Stoltzenburg was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Cassie Bridge was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Alex Eads was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Abbie Glenn was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Lincoln 1
Illinois Valley Central 0
The Lady Railers improved their season record to 19-12 on
May12th with a 1-0 win over Illinois Valley Central in extra
innings.
Cara Farnam scored the winning run for Lincoln in the bottom of
the eighth inning on an error committed by the pitcher on a ball
hit by Taryn Stoltzenburg.
Farnam earned the win for Lincoln. She threw eight innings,
allowing just two hits and zero runs. She struck out nine
batters.
The Lady Railers had four hits versus Illinois Valley Central.
Cara Farnam, Taryn Stoltzenburg, Abbie Glenn and Faith Eckhardt
each had a hit.

Lincoln 5
Pekin 1
On April 27th the Lady Railers defeated Pekin 5-1 with Cara
Farnam in the circle. She allowed two hits and one run over
seven innings of work, striking out one batter and walking one.
Farnam also hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth
inning.
Ryen Stoltzenburg drove in two runs and Alex Eads drove in one
run in the 5-1 victory.
Lincoln 7
Limestone 0
On April 29th the Lady Railers defeated Limestone 7-0.
Cara Farnam shut out the Rockets on just four hits. She struck
out nine batters.
There were a couple big hits in this game, which featured the
Lady Railers pounding out 11 hits.
Cassie Bridge hit her first career home run in the fifth inning.
Farnam hit a run-scoring triple in the second inning for
Lincoln.
In addition, Malena Kirgan was 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Ryen Stoltzenburg was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Cassie Bridge finished the day 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run
scored.
Taryn Stoltzenburg was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs
scored.
Cara Farnam completed her day at the plate with a 2-for-4
performance and two RBIs and one run scored.
Lincoln 3
Mount Zion 1
On April 30th the Lady Railers were 3-1 winners over Mount Zion.
Lincoln scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to
take a 3-1 lead. Ryen Stoltzenburg scored the first run for the
Lady Railers. Cara Farnam hit an inside the park home run that
allowed Malena Kirgan to score ahead of her and the Lady Railers
were on top.
With Farnam in the circle, the lead was secure and the Lady
Railers went on to win 3-1. Farnam only gave up three hits and
one run. She struck out four batters and walked three.
Cassie Bridge had another multi-hit game for Lincoln.
Lincoln 7
Pleasant Plains 2
On May 2nd the Lady Railers jumped on the Pleasant Plains
Cardinals early and went on to cruise to a 7-2 victory.
Abbie Glenn and Alex Eads each smacked doubles versus the
Cardinals.
Taryn Stoltzenburg, Cassie Bridge and Ryen Stoltzenburg also had
base hits in the game.
Farnam earned the win over Pleasant Plains. She allowed two runs
on four hits and struck out nine batters.
Lincoln 13
Prairie Central 2
On May 3rd the Lady Railers scored early and often in order to
claim the 13-2 win over Prairie Central.
Abbie Glenn’s bases-clearing double in the bottom of the first
inning put the Lady Railers up 3-0. A sacrifice fly by Chloe
Johnston allowed the Lady Railers to go up 4-0.
Cara Farnam and Cassie Bridge added RBI singles in the second
inning to increase the lead to 6-0. Two more runs were scored on
an error and Lincoln led 8-0 after two innings of play.
The Lady Railers added three more runs in the bottom of the
third inning.
After Bridge singled in the top of the fifth inning and Prairie
Central committed an error, the Lady Railers scored two runs and
ended the game in early with a 13-2 victory.
Cara Farnam picked up the win versus Prairie Central. Farnam’s
five innings of work included giving up one hit. The two runs
scored were both unearned. Farnam struck out nine batters.
Lincoln 11
Rochester 2
On May 6th the Lady Railers had 13 hits and 11 runs versus
Rochester to earn an 11-2 win.
After the Rockets took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady
Railers plated three runs in the fourth inning to take over the
lead.
Lincoln put together a six-run fifth inning, leaving no doubt in
this one. Malena Kirgan, Faith Eckhardt and Cassie Bridge had
RBI singles in the inning to lead the Lady Railers at the plate.
Ryen Stoltzenburg smashed a triple to get the inning started.
Lincoln plated two more runs in the top of the seventh inning,
with Johnston adding an RBI single.
The Lady Railers defeat Rochester 11-2 with Cara Farnam in the
circle getting the win.
Farnam went the distance, allowing two runs on ten hits. She
struck out six batters and walked five.
The Lady Railers look to pick up win no. 20 on the season today
with a home game versus Decatur MacArthur. The first pitch is
scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
