For many folks, any time the calendar says Friday the 13th,
there is a chance it is going to be a less than good day. However,
the students at the Lincoln Christian Church Pre-School in Lincoln
might not agree with that analogy.

To quote one of the students, last Friday the 13th
was the “best day ever.”
Why was it such a great day for the children? Because they had a day
filled with adventures and treats as they took a walking field trip
in Lincoln.
The day began with the children marching hand in hand to the Lincoln
Public Library Annex where staff kept them very busy for quite some
time.
The children were led in a sing-a-long and were allowed to chill out
on the floor and listen to a storybook.
Then it was play time, but also learning time. The youngsters
learned about nature and planting and had the fun of filling little
pots with soil and seeds that they will be able to watch grow.
They exercised their artistic side by coloring trees
and other nature and earth pictures. They also were able to build
with the blocks provided by the library, their favorite things from
towers and buildings to cars and trucks.

In addition to all this, they had interactive time on
the library computers, visited the fish tank watching the fish swirl
around in an entertaining fashion, and had the chance to have more
storybooks read to them on a one-on-one basis.
But the fun was not over when the students left the library. They
then marched in an orderly fashion across the heart of the city
where they made another stop at Top Hat Creamery. Of course,
everyone knows what that means….ice cream!
After getting cups of their favorite flavor, the children assembled
outside in the warm sunshine to enjoy their ice cream and talk about
their day. It was then that one child exclaimed loudly “best day
ever!”
The children were very well behaved throughout the day and reaped
the reward for being such with their ice cream treats before heading
back to the Lincoln Christian Church, where perhaps they were all
ready for some quiet time, or maybe even a nap!
