Vitek Vanecek made 25 saves for the Devils, whose winning streak
is the third longest in franchise history and the longest since
an 11-game run from March 28 to April 18, 2006. The club's
all-time mark is a 13-game streak in 2001.
Dougie Hamilton, Jesper Bratt and John Marino also scored for
New Jersey.
Evgenii Dadonov scored in the second for the Canadiens, who had
their three-game winning streak snapped. Jake Allen recorded 34
saves.
Sharks 5, Golden Knights 2
Timo Meier scored the go-ahead goal with 2:48 remaining and
Logan Couture and Mario Ferraro sealed it with empty-net goals
as San Jose won in Las Vegas.
Matt Nieto and Luke Kunin also scored and Erik Karlsson and
Alexander Barabanov each had two assists for San Jose, which has
won three straight games for first time since Jan. 6-11. James
Reimer stopped 24 shots for the Sharks, who defeated Vegas in
regulation for just the second time in 25 regular-season
meetings.
Jonathan Marchessault and Jack Eichel scored for the Golden
Knights, who took their second straight loss following a
nine-game winning streak. Logan Thompson made 24 saves while
having a personal six-game winning streak snapped.
Ducks 3, Red Wings 2 (OT)
Ryan Strome scored with 50 seconds remaining in overtime after
John Klingberg forced the extra period with a goal in the last
minute of regulation as Anaheim beat visiting Detroit.
Mason McTavish also scored for the Ducks, who ended a three-game
losing streak. John Gibson had 31 saves for Anaheim, which
improved to 3-0 in overtime but remained the only NHL team
without a victory in regulation (16 games).
Jonatan Berggren scored his first career goal and Michael
Rasmussen also scored for the Red Wings, who saw their losing
streak extend to four games (0-2-2). Ville Husso made 27 saves
for the Red Wings.
Blue Jackets 5, Flyers 4 (OT)
Vladislav Gavrikov scored at 3:14 of overtime to lift host
Columbus past Philadelphia, after the Blue Jackets had twice
blown two-goal leads.
Boone Jenner added two goals and Eric Robinson contributed one
goal and one assist for the Blue Jackets. Sean Kuraly also
scored. Elvis Merzlikins made 15 saves and Joonas Korpisalo, who
relieved in the second period, made 18.
Travis Konecny, Kevin Hayes and Noah Cates each had one goal and
one assist for the Flyers, who dropped their fourth in a row
(0-3-1). Nick Seeler also added one goal for Philadelphia.
Carter Hart stopped 28 shots.
Canucks 5, Sabres 4
Bo Horvat notched a goal and two assists as Vancouver ended a
three-game losing streak with a win in Buffalo.
Elias Pettersson had a goal and an assist for Vancouver, and
Dakota Joshua, Ethan Bear and J.T. Miller scored the other
goals. Horvat has collected multiple points in five of his last
nine games and has 20 points (14 goals, six assists) in 17
games.
Alex Tuch tallied a goal and two assists for Buffalo, which has
lost six straight. Jeff Skinner scored the Sabres' two other
goals and Tage Thompson had two assists.
Maple Leafs 5, Penguins 2
Michael Bunting had two goals and an assist, and John Tavares
notched his 400th career goal as visiting Toronto handled
Pittsburgh.
William Nylander tallied a goal and an assist, and Mitch Marner
also scored for the Maple Leafs, who are 5-1-1 over their past
seven games. Matt Murray, a former two-time Stanley Cup champion
with the Penguins who was starting for the first time back in
Pittsburgh, made 35 saves in his return from a groin injury.
Tavares left late in the third after taking a high stick.
Rickard Rakell and Sidney Crosby scored for the Penguins, who
are 2-7-2 in their past 11 contests. Crosby has 1,426 career
points, moving him into sole possession of 17th place on the
all-time list. Casey DeSmith made 28 saves.
Lightning 5, Stars 4 (OT)
Alex Killorn's goal on a two-on-one breakaway in overtime lifted
Tampa Bay over visiting Dallas.
The deciding tally at 3:43 was set up on a breakout play from
Steven Stamkos, who recorded his 500th career assist on the OT
goal. Killorn finished with a goal and two assists. Ross Colton,
Nicholas Paul and Ian Cole each had a goal and an assist for the
Lightning, who moved to 5-2-1 on home ice. Tampa Bay's Brian
Elliott stopped 28 shots.
Mason Marchment and Joe Pavelski notched power-play goals and
Radek Faksa scored short-handed for the Stars. Pavelski's 430th
goal lifted him into sole possession of eighth place for NHL
goals among U.S.-born skaters. Jason Robertson tallied and had
an assist, and Miro Heiskanen logged two assists. Jake Oettinger
made 33 saves.
Predators 2, Wild 1
Matt Duchene had a goal and an assist for Nashville in a win
against visiting Minnesota.
Nino Niederreiter also scored, Ryan Johansen had two assists and
Juuse Saros made 32 saves for the Predators, who have four wins
in their past six games.
Frederick Gaudreau scored and Marc-Andre Fleury made 23 saves
for the Wild, who have scored a combined four goals while going
1-1-1 over the past three games.
Panthers 5, Capitals 2
Sergei Bobrovsky made a season-high 41 saves to earn his first
victory since Nov. 3 as Florida defeated visiting Washington in
Sunrise, Fla.
Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart, Nick Cousins and Carter
Verhaeghe (twice) scored for the Panthers, who also got three
assists from Matthew Tkachuk.
Dylan Strome and John Carlson scored for the Capitals, who got
38 saves from Darcy Kuemper. Washington went 0-for-5 on its
power play, and the Panthers kept Capitals star Alex Ovechkin
off the scoresheet.
