Mount Pulaski’s Alyson Murphy poured in 10
points in the first quarter and Grace Davis and Alexis Wade each
scored a basket but the Lady Toppers trailed Deer Creek-Mackinaw
15-14 when the quarter came to a close.
Wade led the Lady Toppers with five points in the second quarter
and Murphy scored one field goal, but again it was Deer
Creek-Mackinaw with the slim 22-21 lead at the half.
Wade scored all of the Lady Topper points in the third quarter
but the Lady Chiefs pulled away with a 36-29 lead.
Wade and Murphy were a combined 9-for-10 from the free throw
line in the fourth quarter but without a field goal the
opportunities to overtake the Lady Chiefs were slim.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw went on to win by a final score of 50-38.
Alexis Wade led Mount Pulaski with 19 points and 5 steals.
Alyson Murphy scored 17 points and pulled down 6 rebounds and 5
steals.
Grace Davis led the team with 7 rebounds.
Mount Pulaski’s record is now 1-1 on the season.
The Lady Toppers will play Porta tonight (Thursday, November
17th) at 6 p.m. in Riverton as the tournament continues.
