Mount Pulaski held an 11-5 first quarter lead
over the Blue Jays with Alexis Wade and Je’Na Rentmeister each
sinking threes for the Lady Toppers.
Alyson Murphy’s two 3s would be the only scoring for Mount
Pulaski in the second quarter as the Lady Toppers held onto a
17-16 lead.
The Blue Jays took over the lead in the third quarter. With Wade
scoring the only four points of the quarter for Mount Pulaski,
the Blue Jays took a 30-21 lead over the Lady Toppers.
The Blue Jays managed to hold off the Lady Toppers in the fourth
quarter and fly away with the 43-31 win.
Mount Pulaski’s head coach Ryan McVickers said the girls played
great and really battled against a very good team from PORTA.
Mount Pulaski was also playing without starters Grace Davis
(illness) and Hailee Daigh (injury). Daigh has missed the start
of the season for Mount Pulaski but is expected back in the
lineup soon.
Alyson Murphy led the Lady Toppers with 11 points and 4 steals.
Alexis Wade reached double-figures with 10 points.
Elayna Marten had 5 rebounds and Abby Jones had 4 rebounds.
Mount Pulaski falls to 1-2 on the season.
The Lady Toppers will play on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. as the
tournament concludes at Clinton High School.
