Mount Pulaski celebrates 8th Grade Night

[November 18, 2022] The Honeybears swept Springfield Christ the King on Thursday night at the Bob Gasaway Gymnasium in Mount Pulaski as the team also honored their eighth graders.

Piper Tyson, Addison Brown, Mackenzie Johnston, Jessi Wade, Audrey Cooper, Claire Bobell and Karsyn Wilham were each recognized prior to the start of the 8th grade game for their years of dedication to the Honeybears basketball program.

The 7th grade team started the night with a 40-10 win over Christ the King. The 7th grade Honeybears improved their record to 16-3 on the season.

The 8th grade team defeated Christ the King 41-24. The 8th grade Honeybears improved their record to 19-1 on the season.

In addition, retired bus driver Ron Schaffenacker was honored for his commitment to the school district’s bus service. Schaffenacker drove student-athletes to school and sporting events for over 40 years, among his passengers were his own children and grandchildren. Schaffenacker’s granddaughter, Karsyn Wilham, is a member of the current Honeybears.

The postseason will begin for Mount Pulaski next week.

The 7th grade team is scheduled to play Monday night at 7:15 p.m. versus Virginia in the Class 2A Regional held in Virginia.

Regionals for the 8th grade team will begin the following week. Time and place is yet to be announced.
