The West Lincoln Broadwell Lady Wolverines and
the Mount Pulaski Honeybears faced off in a fierce battle on the
court Thursday night in Lincoln.
Both teams were able to hold onto their perfect records, as the
Lady Wolverines won the 7th grade game by a final score of 33-9
and the Honeybears won the 8th grade game 37-27.
In the 7th grade contest, WLB led 7-4 after the first quarter.
Mount Pulaski trailed 13-8 at one point in the second quarter,
but before halftime the Lady Wolverines went on a tear, led by
two 3s from Paisley Holmes. At the half, WLB had a 23-8 lead
over Mount Pulaski.
At the end of the third quarter, WLB was running away with the
game, leading 31-8. The final score was 33-9 as the WLB 7th
grade team kept their record perfect, improving to 11-0.
Ella Schneider and Paisley Holmes each led WLB with 10 points.
Mount Pulaski’s 7th grade team dropped their record to 7-2 on
the season.
In the 8th grade contest, Mount Pulaski jumped out to a 7-0 lead
but WLB hit a bucket with seconds left in the first quarter and
set the score at 7-2. The Honeybears were guided by threes from
Claire Bobell and Addison Brown in the second quarter to run the
halftime lead up to 22-14.
Mount Pulaski continued to outscore WLB in the third quarter and
take a 30-19 lead. Ella Martin and Brown combined to go 5-for-6
from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and pace the
Honeybears to a 37-27 victory. Mount Pulaski’s 8th grade team
stays perfect with a 9-0 record.
Addison Brown led Mount Pulaski with 12 points.
The WLB 8th grade team falls to 6-5 on the season.
