A WIN ON SENIOR NIGHT

The Railers kicked up an 8-0 win over Effingham as senior Cadge Kingsley scored five goals and became the new LCHS record holder for goals scored in a season. Kingsley has 51 goals so far this season with the postseason beginning this week. Kingsley broke the previous record of 48 goals that was set by Garrett Slack last season.

Ashton Bottles, Christopher Slack and Eli Crane also scored goals in the Apollo Conference win over the Flaming Hearts. Aidan Gowin also recorded four assists versus Effingham. Gabriel Merriman recorded the assist on Kingsley’s record-breaking goal. Hunter Bent picked up his tenth shutout of the season.

The soccer team finished the regular season with a record of 15-5-5. The team is 8-1-3 in the Apollo Conference.

The Railers will begin regionals on Tuesday night versus Champaign Central in Bloomington.

KICK CANCER NIGHT RAISES OVER $5,000

The team also held its annual Kick Cancer Night on Thursday and raised a whopping $5,216 for two-year old Simeon Huber, who is battling cancer. Huber is from Hillsboro and just started treatment for a rare form of leukemia. The toddler and his family were unable to be in attendance at the soccer game as he is currently in St. Louis for treatment.

LCHS boys soccer coach Tim Stuckey, who holds this cause near and dear to his heart, was very pleased with the support for the little boy.

“We are always so proud of our community and the support they give our event each year,” said Stuckey. “We are grateful to be a part of such a great community that rallies around people in need.”
