At 1:45 p.m. board members and city of Lincoln
representatives gathered for a ribbon cut prior to a 2 p.m. open
house.
Those in attendance included LCG&HS Board President Bill Donath,
Vice President Diane Osborn, Treasurer Diane Farmer, Board members
Roseann Coers and Rojean Logan, Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch, City
Treasurer Chuck Conzo, Aldermen Tony Zurkammer, Rick Hoefle and
Wanda Lee Rohlfs, and Miss Logan County Fair Queen Emma Stoltzenburg.
Assisting with the ribbon cutting was Karen Hargis and Nila Smith
with the LDN Ribbon Cutters.
With everyone assembled behind the ribbon, Smith congratulated the
group on their recovery and grand reopening and then turned the
event over to Donath.
Donath explained that it has actually been three years since the
center on Chicago Street was open. He explained that due to the
pandemic the center had been closed to the public prior to the fire.
The fire had caused a mess but was finally cleaned and everything in
place.
Donath gave credit to the fellow board members in attendance saying
that the group had done a remarkable job of getting the center back
in business and he was very thankful for their dedication.
Diane Farmer in turn spoke up and said that the LCG&HS
owed a great debt to Donath for his strong leadership during a very
trying time in the history of the historical society.
Mayor Tracy Welch spoke also saying that the city and the council
has always tried to be supportive of the LCG&HS and that all the
council respected the board and membership of the society and
appreciated their effort in recording and keeping safe the history
of our community through genealogy.
Alderwoman Wanda Lee Rohlfs also spoke saying she had firsthand
experience with the board and knew that they had a deep respect as
well as vast knowledge of the history and genealogy of the county
and were very good to work with when tracking down information.

When the speakers were finished, Donath and the group posed for a
photo, then the count down brought on the snipping of the ribbon.
Guests were then invited to say for the open house,
visit with board members, check out the many resources in the
library, all while enjoying some refreshments.
Congratulations to the LCG&HS, it is good to have you back up and
running in our community.
