At the event, the humane society gathered supplies
used daily at the no kill shelter. Items include Purina dog and
puppy chow, Purina cat and kitten food, canned dog/cat food and
small milk bones. They also collected cleaning supplies like paper
towels, bleach, and laundry detergent.
Other frequently used supplies include copy paper, postage stamps,
Ziploc bags in one and two-gallon sizes, trash bags, and prepaid
cards for Walmart, Farm & Home, and other stores.
Guest House Coffee and Pastries, Nuthatch BBQ, and Top Hat Creamery
sold food and beverages at the event and part of the proceeds from
their sales went towards raising funds for the Humane Society.

Missy Levi, Kay Armbruster, and Barb Stinson
Barb Stinson, who just started volunteering three weeks ago was
selling her homemade dog biscuits. She said the humane society is a
great place to volunteer because people really care about the
animals.
To help fund a new building addition planned for the near future,
there was a 50/50 raffle, gift basket raffle and donation box.
The building addition will have additional isolation rooms. Kay
Armbruster said having more isolation rooms will allow HSLC to take
in more animals. There will be four outside runs for dogs in
isolation.
Once the addition is built, Armbruster said the existing isolation
room will be used for cats only. Right now, both cats and dogs are
in the isolation area and the cats tend to get stressed by the dogs.
The addition will help HSLC provide more adoption opportunities to
members of the community looking for a pet to care for and love.

Marilyn Wheat, one of the managers of the HSLC said the building can
hold up to 55 animals. These animals are adopted quickly, and Wheat
said many who foster the animals are a great help. Before animals
are adopted, they are vaccinated and spayed and neutered.
Throughout the event, various people and organization brought in
supplies and by the end, both the truck bed and back seat were
stuffed.
On Sunday, the donations were sorted out and organized at the Humane
Society building. HSLC volunteer Missy Levi chaired the Saturday
event. She reported the HSLC received 300 pounds of Dog Chow, 425
pounds of Puppy Chow, 225 pounds of Cat Chow, 105 pounds of Kitten
Chow and over 50 pounds of Milk Bone biscuits
Money raised from the 50/50 tickets, basket raffle and cash
donations was $1174.
Other donations included 50 cans of dog food, 48 cans of cat food,
96 rolls of paper towels and seven gallons of bleach. Among the
miscellaneous items donated were copy paper, toilet paper, cleaning
supplies, Ziploc bags, garbage bags and pee pads.
Overall, Levi said the Humane Society Stuff the Truck fundraiser was
a huge success. Levi said, “God granted me the perfect day. I was
also blessed with an amazing team of volunteers, and I couldn’t have
done it without them.”
There were many Levi wanted to thank for their support. To all
sponsors and vendors Levi said a huge thank you.
To all the people that supported this fundraiser, Levi said there
are no words, but know that your support has helped many shelter
cats and dogs in Logan County.
