Springfield Lutheran defeats Mount Pulaski for regional title

The Lady Toppers (no. 3 seed) lost in three sets to the Springfield
Lutheran Crusaders (no.1 seed) Thursday night in the Class 1A
Regional championship hosted by Mount Pulaski.
Mount Pulaski won the first set 25-21 over the Crusaders before
falling in the next two sets 9-25 and 13-25.
Grace Davis led Mount Pulaski with 10 kills.
Alexis Wade led the Lady Toppers with 14 digs.
Hailee Daigh had 23 assists for Mount Pulaski.
Mount Pulaski finished the season with a 23-12 record.
Springfield Lutheran improves their record to 33-3. The Crusaders
are ranked 4th in the state in IHSA volleyball. The Crusaders will
play Hardin Calhoun Monday night at 6:00 p.m in the Class 1A
Sectional at White Hall.
Mount Pulaski Coach Alora Goodey guided the team to a great season
in her first year at the helm and she was proud of her athletes all
season long.
“I have been so blessed with such a great group of athletes my first
year here at MP,” said Goodey. “This community and these families
care so deeply about their athletes and the success of the program.
While it wasn’t the way we wanted to end our season, I’m so proud of
the continued progress we made throughout the season.”
