							Obituary
Julie Harris Larson, 62, of Lincoln,
passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17,
2022, at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas
Murray Harris and Britta Borgeson Harris, and one
sister, Janet Jorgine Harris. She is survived by her
three daughters, Genevieve (Nathan) Neal; Britta
(Kyle) Venstrom; and Christina (Rahul Talari) Larson
and by her siblings, Jean Christie Harris; Dr. John
(Tamara) Harris, and Thomas (Regina) Harris, Jr.

Julie Christine Harris was born on September 20,
1959, in Lincoln, the fourth child of Thomas and
Britta Harris. She graduated from Lincoln Community
High School in 1977 and from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1982, where she
							studied architecture.

Growing up in Lincoln, Julie's family fostered her
love for the outdoors and nature, gardening, travel,
education, and artistic creativity. She played
competitive tennis until college and went to the
Illinois state tennis tournament four years of
							high school.

							Julie began her professional career
in architecture, interior and landscape design, but
changed paths when her first daughter was born.
Moving from Chicago to the suburbs, she channeled
her creativity into a single-panel newspaper comic,
a satire on middle-class culture. It was titled
'Suburban Torture' during the years of
							self-syndication 1990-1997.

							It was titled 'Suburban Torture'
							during the years of self-syndication 1990 - 1997,
then later she earned national syndication, and it
ran as 'The Dinette Set' until her retirement in
2015, notably running in the Chicago Tribune. Julie
self-published nine printed volumes of her comics.
She was also a regular contributor to the Chicago
Tribune's Sunday color comics page creating find-its
and rebus picture puzzles during the 1990s.

She was loved by her family and friends for her
sharp sense of humor, imagination, and designer's
eye; for her vibrancy, and her kindness to all. She
was especially skilled at making others laugh with
her clever wit. Her daughters remember fondly
growing up in a loving home filled with comedy.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 23,
2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist
