[September 07, 2022]  TextThe Oasis Senior Center is pleased to announce that after habing to suspend the service during the coronavirus pandemic, the organization is once again able to offer FREE blood pressure checks every Friday.  Nurses are on hand from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and no appointment is necessary.  Maintaining blood pressure at a safe level is vital to healthy living.  Please be sure to stop in as often as you like!

WEEKLY Cards & Table Games (the FUN stuff!)

Monday/Weds/Friday - Pinochle 12pm-3pm

Tuesday - Mahjong 12pm-2pm

Tuesday - Dinner 5:00pm - Bingo 6:30pm (Menu to be posted on Tuesdays on the Oasis Senior Center FB Page)

Weds/Friday - Euchre & Spades 10am-12pm

Thursday - Free Bingo 1-2pm

Benefit Access - Tuesday mornings - Income eligible seniors could be eligible for a Secretary of State License Plate Discount. Call the Oasis or stop in to get an appointment.

Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs - Sept 6th & Sept 20th from 9-3pm - Call the Oasis or stop in to get an appointment.

Diabetic Shoes - Medicare can assist diabetics in getting therapeutic shoes. Prescription from the doctor needed. Call the Oasis or stop in to get an appointment.

Senior Food Bank - Sept 15th from 10am-11:30am - no proof of income is required; we will have food for seniors in need in the community.

Caregiver Support Group -Sept 20th at 1:30pm - Hosted at the Oasis, this group is open to people with a diagnosis, caregivers, and people concerned about a future diagnosis.

Legal Aid -Sept 21st from 9am-3:00pm - Legal Aide will be available onsite for scheduled appointments. Call the Oasis or stop in to schedule an appointment.

Social Security - Sept 15th - Assistance in accessing Social Security Info available online: examples include Applying for benefits, see what benefits one is eligible for, change of address, replace Medicare card. Call the Oasis or stop in to get an appointment.

Medicare 101 - Sept 19th at 5:30 pm & Sept 22nd at 10:30am - Call the Oasis or stop in, to get added to the list for the class.

Blood Pressure Checks - Every Friday from 10:00-11:30am. No appointment necessary walk in, and the volunteer nurses can check your BP!

Fundraising Events

September 22nd from 4:00-6:30pm - Spaghetti Drive-Thru Dinner
Meal includes: spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, and cookies.
Tickets can be purchased at the oasisseniorcenter.com, on the Oasis Facebook Page, or in person during normal business hours.

Sept 28th - Culvers Fundraiser from 5-8:00pm - 10% of all sales that night will be given to the Oasis.

Day Trips

Sunday Sept 11th - Litchfield Pickers Market - join us for some good music, good shopping, and good lunch with a lunch reservation at the Ariston Cafe in Litchfield. Call the Oasis or stop in to sign up.

Bus leaves at: 10:30am.

Saturday September 24th - Antique Malls in Springfield - Join us for a quick jaunt to springfield to do some shopping and to eat at Top Cat's Chill & Grill. Call the Oasis or stop in to sign up.
