Saturday evening at the Spirited Republic in Lincoln was standing room only for much of the time as people came in large quantity for a two-fold celebration in honor of Don Jordan.

The celebration was for Jordan’s 90th birthday and his retirement from Graue, Inc. after a nearly 30-year career with the company.

Guests enjoyed food from Guzzardo’s including pizza and chicken strips. Cupcakes and a beautifully decorated cake that took note of Jordan’s love for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team were also served.

Guests came in with well wishes and congratulatory cards for Jordan who greeted each person with a big happy smile.

Among the many guests in the house for the party were several former co-workers from Graue as well as the company’s owner, Chris Graue.

After the party Graue shared his thoughts about the departure of his long-time employee and friend.

“Don Jordan has been an integral part of the Graue, Inc. operation for close to 30 years. His wit and wisdom will be greatly missed.

“Don’s duties included pickup and delivery of customers and their vehicles. Runs to the post office, bank, Fed Ex, and for parts; runs were just a few things that kept Don busy during the work day. He also made a great pot of coffee that has become a staple at Graue, Inc. on North Kickapoo street.

“Don also served as somewhat of an Ambassador for Graue, Inc. attending many civic functions both here and out of town.

“An avid LCHS Railer basketball fan. There weren’t many games, home or away, that Don and Shirley missed.

“We salute Don and Shirley as they plan to enjoy time with their family and perhaps travel.”

Congratulations to Don Jordan and best wishes for a fun and happy retirement.
