[September 14, 2022] The Green Bay Packers placed linebacker Krys Barnes on injured reserve Tuesday and signed offensive lineman Caleb Jones from the practice squad.

Barnes suffered a high ankle sprain and calf injuries in the Packers' loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. He was carted off the field with an air cast on the leg. He'll have to miss at least four games, though the club was originally fearful of losing him for a few months.

Barnes replaced an injured Quay Walker and played just nine snaps on defense before the injury. He has 161 tackles in 30 career games (23 starts), all with the Packers.

Walker's status is unknown after leaving Sunday with a shoulder injury. The rookie, Green Bay's first pick in April's draft at No. 22 overall, started and had eight tackles before getting hurt.

Jones was a favorite of quarterback Aaron Rodgers' to make the 53-man roster out of camp. He was cut and then signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers. The undrafted free agent graded out well by Pro Football Focus during the preseason.

The signing gives the Packers 11 offensive linemen on the active roster. The move is seen as protection from Jones getting scooped off their practice squad by teams trolling for OL help.
