Obituary

Anna Eva Bunner (née Pozsgai), 79, of Lincoln, passed away on September 3, 2022.

Born on August 31, 1943 in Baja, Hungary to János (John) Pozsgai and Eva (Pribil) Pozsgai, Anna grew up living on the Danube River with her brothers János (John), Jozsef (Joe), and László. Anna and her family fled Hungary during the tumultuous revolution and arrived in America in December of 1956, after which they were welcomed into Lincoln by St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Anna led a life equally full of love, hard work, and perseverance. She married her high school crush Thomas “Tom” Bunner on July 5, 1996. Anna worked at Eaton Corporation for decades before her retirement. She fought and beat breast cancer twice, survived a cardiac arrest, and fought the battle of dementia up until the very end.

Anna loved to paint, do ceramics, golf, listen to Tom Jones and polka music, and spend time with family and friends. She never met a stranger and created meaningful relationships with everyone who had the pleasure of holding a conversation with her. Anna’s heart was described as “larger than life itself” and her boundless love shone on her family, friends, and anyone in need. Anna will be remembered fondly for the lives she filled with love and joy through her presence, who now carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Surviving Anna are her daughter Tammy (Ken) Aulgur of Bremerton, WA.; her son Jack (Sandy) Woodard of Port Orchard, WA.; her four grandchildren Erica (Shahab) Shekari, Teal Victoria, Garrett (Heather) Woodard, and Marissa Aulgur; and her sisters Susie Billington and Mary Morris.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Amy Jo Woodard; her husband Thomas Bunner; her great granddaughter Kaiyanna Victoria; her parents János and Eva Pozsgai; and her brothers János (John) Pozsgai, Jozsef (Joe) Pozsgai, Paul Pozsgai, and László Pozsgai.

Services for Anna will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.) also at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will be held following the funeral service.
