A perfect parade on a perfect Friday afternoon kicks off LCHS Homecoming

 

[September 17, 2022]  A large crowd came out on Friday afternoon for the annual Lincoln Community High School Homecoming Parade. The weather was perfect, warm but not hot with a gentle breeze blowing, and best of all, bright blue skies with just a fluffy cloud here and there.

Among the many entries in the parade was that of the Grand Marshal Patsy Zurkammer. She has long been a beloved staff member at LCHS, well known by many.

This year's parade was blessed with musical performances by the Lincoln Junior High School Band and the LCHS Band. The cheerleaders and dance teams offered performances, and the sports teams from around the community including high school golf, swim and football, were all in the parade. The Lincoln youth football teams were also well represented.

Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch and city aldermen were included in the lineup, as well as members of local businesses and organizations. There are several high school class reunions this weekend and the parade had attendees on floats.

The Railer Football Team was in attendance atop one of the local fire department engines accompanied by none other than the Railers number one fan Tim McDougal.

The high school's homecoming royalty was paraded through town in the back of convertibles along with the 2022 Miss Logan County Fair Queen Emma Stoltzenburg and Junior Miss Isabella Pollice. Another member of royalty on hand was Miss Central Illinois Princess Brielle Wilson.

Candy was being tossed out to anxious children who dashed into the street to snatch up as much as possible before the next parade entry arrived.

In all, it was a perfect day for a parade and the perfect parade for the day.
