The Wolverines (no. 2 seed) took a 1-0 lead in
the bottom of the second inning, but the Bruins (no. 3 seed)
were quick to retaliate by scoring two runs in the top of the
third inning.
Mount Pulaski took a 4-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
WLB plated a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and that
would be all of the scoring on the day as the Bruins advanced to
the regional championship with a 4-2 win over the Wolverines.
Offensively for Mount Pulaski, Chase Roberts was 1-for-2 with
two runs scored and two walks. Carter Clark was 1-for-3 with a
run scored and an RBI. Aaron Volle was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Wesley Bobell scored a run for Mount Pulaski.
The Bruins pitching staff allowed just one hit.
Carter Clark earned the win after pitching three innings. He
walked five and struck out two batters and allowed one run.
Chase Roberts pitched an inning, allowing one walk.
Aaron Volle pitched an inning and one-third, allowing one run
and recording a walk and a strikeout.
Austin Kretzinger closed out the game, working the final inning
and two-thirds. He shut down the Wolverines offense and struck
out three batters.
Bryce Vlahovich took the loss for WLB. He worked six innings and
gave up four runs on three hits. He walked four and struck out
11 batters.
Brett Hayes pitched a scoreless inning in relief, striking out
two batters.
Mount Pulaski will play the no. 1 seed, Springfield Blessed
Sacrament, for the Class 1A Regional 13 championship at 4 p.m.
today in Springfield.
That game will be played at Springfield Christian, located at
2850 Cider Mill Lane in Springfield.
