Visitation: Friday, September 30, 2022, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Atlanta Christian Church

Service: Noon Friday at the church

Obituary

Terry L. Shay, 71, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Services for Terry will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Atlanta Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Mr. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountjoy Cemetery in rural Atlanta.

Terry Lee Shay was born January 19, 1951, in Lincoln, the son of Frank and Mary Sellers Shay. He was united in marriage to Kathi J. Turner on Sept. 10, 1982. She survives.

Terry is also survived by two children: Michael (Rachel) Shay and Jessie (Chris) Lazarus; six grandchildren; one brother, Mike (Sue) Shay; and one sister, Cindy Mont.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters.

Terry worked for Caterpillar for ten years and the Illinois Department of Corrections for 28 years, from which he retired with the rank of Lieutenant. He had volunteered with the Atlanta Fire Department and as a coach (for his daughter’s team) for Oly Fire Softball. In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Fire Department or the Atlanta Rescue Squad.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.
