Obituary
Alvin D. Klockenga, 85, of Lincoln,
passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Copper
Creek Cottages.
Alvin was born February 24, 1938, in Lincoln, the
son of Frank and Maxine (Slayton) Klockenga. He
married Teresa Bode on February 27, 1960, in
Lincoln. She survives.
Alvin is also survived by his children, Kathy (Bob)
Buse, Patty (Jeff) Huffer, Chris (Kristin) Klockenga,
Anne (Matt) Pochel, and Mary (Chris) Giroux;
grandchildren, Ben (Randi) Buse, Zack Huffer, Max
Buse, Holly (Tim) Geiselman, Ryan Huffer, Sam
(Amanda) Buse, Kyle (Gabby) Klockenga, Molly Buse,
Cole Klockenga, Collin Pochel, Wil Buse, Nathan
Giroux, Kolby Pochel, Nick Giroux, Lizzie Giroux,
and Lily Giroux; great-grandchildren, Ellie Buse,
Vera Buse, Rex Geiselman, and Eliza Buse; his
siblings, Frank Klockenga, Vernon (Janet) Klockenga,
Linda (Dave) Aper; sister-in-law, Shirley Klockenga;
and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and
great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his
brother, Darrell Klockenga. |
Alvin was a lifelong farmer in the
Lincoln area and was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling,
golfing, and spending time with his family. Alvin
was a loving and compassionate man, who with his
wife, Teresa, opened their home for their nieces &
nephews after the death of their parents.
Services for Alvin will be held at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in
Lincoln with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. A
visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on
Monday, April 10, 2023, also at the church. Burial
will follow the services at Zion Cemetery in
Lincoln.
Memorial donations may be made in Alvin’s name to
Zion Lutheran Church or Carroll Catholic School.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
