Obituary
Mary Ellen Aeilts, 82, of Lincoln
passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Springfield
Memorial Medical Center.
Graveside Services for Mary Ellen will be held on
Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross
Cemetery in Lincoln.
Mary Ellen Loobey was born on February 12, 1941 in
Lincoln the daughter of William T. and Evangeline
(Burns) Loobey. She was united in marriage to
William L. Bennis on January 31, 1963. She later
married Dean F. Aeilts on May 1, 1975. He preceded
her in death on January 24, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter: Candace L. Bennis,
two sons: Randy (Cheryl) Aeilts, Rick (Susie) Aeilts,
Seven grandchildren: Gage Ealey, Sydney Oldham,
Emilee Donley, Breann (Chad) Eichen, Hannah (Andrew)
West, Audrey Aeilts, Joseph Aeilts. Brother-in-law:
Ernie (Helen) Aeilts.
She was preceded in death by one brother: William
Loobey. |
Mary Ellen graduated from Lincoln
Community High School in 1959. She never missed a
single day of school.
She had been employed by Lincoln Office Supply for
25 years and then worked at the Logan County
Treasurer's Office for many years.
Mary Ellen's hobbies included playing cards and
watching Lincoln Community High School and
University of Illinois basketball games.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's
choice.
Peasley Funeral Home is assisting the family with
