A
Central Illinois filmmaker will present his latest short film projects,
featuring several Eureka College students, at two upcoming premiere
screenings in Eureka and Lincoln. Zaknafein Luken, a Lincoln, Illinois
native and 2022 Lincoln College graduate, will unveil Imma Head
Out on Thursday, April 27th, at the Lincoln Theater in Lincoln,
and again on Friday, April 28th at Becker Auditorium at Eureka College.
Both events begin at 7:00 p.m. Limited seats remain
available in Lincoln and reduced admission will be charged.
Admission in Eureka is free.
Imma Head Out is the story of a young man being
pressured into going out with his group of friends to try and help
him recover from his recent break-up and to enjoy the holiday
season. As the night goes on, more mischief unfolds, snowballing
into one wild night!
Will these guys continue to fall into the crazy
night? Or… will they head out?
Several Eureka College students were involved as cast
and crew. Shooting for the film occurred in January and February at
various locations in Eureka, Delavan, and Lincoln.
Luken’s most recent short film, The Plan, shot during
his senior year at Lincoln College, featured many of the same cast
and crew. The Plan was recognized in the categories of Best Comedy
Short and Best Male Director at the Los Angeles International Indie
Short Fest. The film also won Best Student Film honors at the Top
Shorts Film Festival and earned the People’s Choice Award for Best
Short Film at the Fairhope Film Festival. Luken has also won two
National Association of Television Arts and Sciences Student Emmy
Awards and other honors for prior works, including Delivery,
Hate is Not Welcome Here, and Our Cause is Just.

The total runtime for Imma Head Out is
approximately 30 minutes. The film is R-rated (profanity and sexual
references). The film is being released by Luken’s own company,
Z-Culture Productions. Dr. John Malone, Associate Professor of
Communication at Eureka College, was part of the cast and served as
the film’s Executive Producer.
Despite the involvement of Malone and many Eureka College students,
the film was not produced under the auspices of any Eureka College
academic program.
Prior to the main feature, both screenings will
include repeat performances of The Plan (runtime
approximately 14 minutes). Each evening will also include a question
and answer session with cast and crew.
