“Pick Your Chick” at Madigan State Park on Earth Day

[April 19, 2023]    On April 22 the public is invited to celebrate Earth Day at Madigan State Park by attending “Pick Your Chick” from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) owns and operates the James C. Helfrich Wildlife Propagation Center (WPC) located at Madigan State Park in Lincoln. The facility was constructed in the late 1980’s, became operational in 1990, and was officially dedicated in April 1991.

The WPC is located at 1019 1310th Street in Lincoln, Illinois. Visitors can learn about the hatchery and take home a pheasant chick.
