Stations
were set up for check-in, registration, information, door prize sign
up, and food. Staff and volunteers were helping at these stations. A
sign near the entrance to the Park District listed and thanked all
the sponsors who helped make the Walk possible.
The walking was done around the indoor track. Balloons, flowers,
card games and coloring pages were also set at tables for people to
enjoy.
Before or after walking, those at the walk could get a photo taken
at the photo booth with a background of balloons that included the
initials PRC for the Pregnancy Resource Center.
Posters throughout the stations shared information about resources
offered at Living Alternatives. These resources include medical
services, parenting education and general support.
The door prizes available included baskets with water bottles,
hoodies and caps, Mary Kay products, picnic items and goodie baskets
with food or candy. [to top of second

Towards the end of the event Pregnancy Resource Center Assistant
Director Ashton Henry shared a few announcements. Henry began by
thanking everyone involved in the walk for their hard work and
support. Without this support, Henry said the center could not
do all it does.
The top three walk fundraisers for 2023 were Christina Klokkenga,
Deborah Harvey and Linda Sheehan. Each one received chocolate,
gift certificates and Pregnancy Resource Center gear.
This year, the total raised was $8,045. To those at the walk,
Henry said it was “all thanks to you guys.”
Door prize winners were Christina Klokkenga, Deborah Harvey, Kay
Thompson, Linda Sheehan, Marsha Fernandes, Elaine Woolard,
Deanne Marie and Vincent Klokkenga.
In the past year, Henry said Living Alternatives has
had a 50 percent increase in clientele and 21 opportunities to share
the love of Christ.
The event ended with a prayer by Henry thanking God for the day, for
showing up at this event and for providing for everything done at
the PRC. Henry said they are so grateful for the opportunity to
fiercely love anyone who walks in the center and those who raised
funds for the walk. She closed the prayer by expressing gratefulness
for the fundraisers’ faithfulness to God, thankfulness for the day
and thankfulness for God’s son dying on the cross.
Upcoming events include an open house on May 11 from 4 p.m. to 6
p.m. at the Living Alternative Pregnancy Resource Center’s location
at 308 N. Union in Lincoln.
On September 21, the Pregnancy Resource Center Annual Banquet will
be held at the Double Tree Hotel in Bloomington.
Speakers will be Alan and Lisa Robertson from the show Duck Dynasty.
