Despite
cold and very windy conditions, Lincoln’s last season Letter winners
had excellent results for their tennis team in Springfield’s JD
Sinnock Tournament this weekend.
At #1 Singles, Owen Roemer battled through three tie-break matches
and took the third place medal.

After a tie-break first set in his final match, Nate Stuckey worked
his way back from love-3 down and took six games in a row to take
home first place medal at #2 Singles.
The team of Aidan Craine and Riley Freitag took fourth place in #1
Doubles, barely missing third place in a tiebreak.
“These players fought through tough weather conditions and long
waits during the tournament. “Fight” and “battle” were the words of
the days both Friday and Saturday.

"They took on their opponents and adjusted as
needed. I saw excellent decision-making and shot-making this weekend
by our players. It’s great to see their improvement and yes, I am
proud of them,” commented Coach Jan Dickerson. “This is by far the
best showing from Lincoln at the Sinnock Tournament.”
Lincoln also earned an extra point from the #2
Doubles of Alex Steffens and James Brewer in the Consolation draw.
Newly teamed-up at #3 Doubles, Soren Aukamp and Eli Roemer were
narrowly defeated 6-4, 6-4 by their finalist opponents from
Springfield High.
As of this writing, team point totals were not
available.
Schools involved were Glenwood Chatham,
Jacksonville, Lincoln, Maroa-Forsythe, Mascoutah, Peoria Richwoods,
Springfield HS, and Sacred Heart-Griffin.
