Obituary
James Leroy “Newt” Jones, 59, of
Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023,
at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Newt was born July 5, 1963, the son of John Jones
and Patricia Knowles. He married Charlotte Pusey on
May 27, 2011, in Lincoln.
Newt is survived by his wife, Charlotte sons Chastin
Karas of Lincoln, and James Pusey of Lincoln,
daughter Cherokee Hopp of Lincoln, grandchildren
Laura Skelton of Spring City, TN, A’mya Pusey of
Lincoln, Jaamal Skelton of Lincoln, Angel Hopp of La
Vergne, TN, Bristol, and Viley Karas of Lincoln,
great-grandchildren Ryder Thompson, Aria Skelton,
Edyn Thompson, and Jeaslyn Skelton. He was looking
forward to his newest great-grandchild, coming in
July, Caroline Follis.
Newt is also survived by nephews,
Damin (Stephanie) Jones, and Devin (Bailey) Jones;
niece, Daneil Jones; several other nieces and
nephews, and an aunt, Rosabelle Moore of Wyoming,
IL. |
He was preceded in death by his
parents; two brothers, John, and Robert Jones; and
sister-in-law, Rhonda Jones.
Newt was a corvette mechanic, who loved fixing cars.
He also enjoyed fishing, 80’s rock music, and
spending time with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering for Newt will be held from 4
p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in James’ name to the American
Cancer Society.
